Bethlehem College

Bethlehem College is an integrated, co-educational Christian School catering for over 1500 students in years 1 - 13.  It is governed by a Board of Trustees representing both parents and proprietors (The Christian Education Trust - owners and visionaries)

Bethlehem College Kindergarten

Bethlehem College Kindergarten is a Christian pre-school catering for 3½ to 5 year olds providing for:

  • Secure, caring Christian environment
  • Mix of relaxed activities and structured programme
  • Staff that care and will provide the best possible learning environment for the children in their charge
  • Setting that is totally stimulating, positive and fun.
  • East, natural transition to school

Bethlehem College Kindergarten was established with the purpose of preparing pre-schoolers to enter Bethlehem College.  Since Bethlehem College integrated the college can no longer guarantee that a child in the Kindergarten has a place in the school.  This is a result of the preference clauses that make up part of the Integration Deed's terms and conditions.

The owners, The Christian Education Trust, have delegated the governance of the Early Childhood Centres to Bethlehem College Pre-school Ltd.

The Christian Education Trust have a goal to establish early childhood centres in the wider Bay of Plenty area.

First Class Education and Care

First Class Education and Care is another early childhood centre owned by the Christian Education Trust and governed by the Bethlehem College Pre-school Board of Directors.

The centre provides all day care from 7.30am to 5.30pm for children up to 6 years.

First Class Education and Care aims to provide a safe and stimulating environment where children are nurtured and provided with the opportunity to grow and develop as competent, confident learners and communicators, secure in their sense of belonging.  The centre's Christian philosophy will underpin all aspects of the curriculum.

St Andrews Preschool

St Andrews Preschool is based in Te Puke and operates in a facility adjacent to St Andrews Presbyterian Church.  It is modelled on First Class Education and Care, though only for 3 - 5 year olds.

Why We Exist?

To provide quality Christ centred early childhood education and care in a supportive environment.  We provide a viable educational alternative for your child, while offering parents the opportunity to build relationships with each other.

Our Distinctive

We aspire for our children to grow and become "competent, confident learners and communicators that are healthy in mind, body and spirit" (Te Whariki curriculum).  Using Christ centred education and demonstrating Christian values, our highly qualified staff encourage children to be "secure in their sense of belonging" by building quality relationships with them.  Children are enrolled from 3 - 5 years with high staff to child ratios.  Using a range of teaching material, including the Te Whariki curriculum, we support and honour the treaty of Waitangi Partnership.

Opening Hours:  7.30am to 5.30pm - full time / sessional
